A bad birth, you hear it more and more, but why would you actually want that? Well, warm water works as a natural pain relief. Because in warm water your body relaxes and you produce endorphins more easily. These are a type of natural painkiller. Relaxation causes you to produce less stress hormones, and the birth hormones can do what they are supposed to do. Other benefits of a bath delivery are:
- The warm water ensures better blood circulation. As a result, your body will produce more Oxytocin. This is a birthing hormone that ensures good, powerful contractions and is essential for a natural delivery.
- You are weightless in the water. This allows you to move more easy, and adopt a delivery position that you like. That can provide more space in your pelvis. This way the baby can descend well.
- In the bath you can easily sit on your knees or squat while leaning against the bath rim. As a result, gravity helps with the delivery. This makes it easier to access.
- The heat ensures better blood circulation in the area between your vagina and anus. This area therefore stretches more easily. As a result, a cut is needed less often.
- Women who give birth in the bath are less likely to tear.
- Your pelvic area is softer and has better blood flow. As a result, giving birth in a bath can cause less pain for women with pelvic pain (UMCG 2021).
- Birth in the bath just makes the transition to earth a lot easier for your baby. From the water you can gently bring your baby to the surface and rest together from your great achievement. You could also give the first feed in a bath.

- A hygienic bathliner for single use
- Scoop net, mirror and thermometer

How does renting a birthpool work?
- You rent the bath from weeks 37 to 42 of your pregnancy
- Including delivery package (is required)
- Do you live in Valkenswaard or the surrounding area? Then I will bring the bath with love and provide you with tips and tricks
If you live further away you can come and get the bath or I will send it to you. Those costs will then be added to the rent - Are you not using the bath and will the hygienic cover and hose remain in the original packaging? Then those costs will be refunded to you
- You pay a deposit of 50 euros for the bath, which you will receive back when the bath is returned in good order and complete
- You pay the costs for the rental of the bath and the deposit in full for the reservation. By making the payment you make your reservation final
- If there is a reason before the rental date why you are not allowed to use the bath, for example due to a medical indication that a bath delivery cannot take place, you will receive a refund of your rental amount and deposit excluding administration costs of 25 euros.
